Meadowood is a happening place. Meredith and Colleen worked hard to create a fun class reunion party. But trouble is always brewing no matter where or when. Here’s an excerpt from “REUNION WITH DEATH”.
{{ My husband took me into his arms; the music was one of our favorite romantic songs, as we glided in the slow dance. I was reveling in the private moment when a hand tapped Doug on his shoulder and he stopped to stare at Bryan Kirkland.
“May I cut in? For old time’s sake.”
“No. Stay the hell away from my wife, Kirkland, or you’ll be sorry,” Doug ordered then turned his back on Bryan.
“What are you going to do about it, huh? Mister tough guy. You don’t look so tough,” shouted Kirkland as we left him standing alone in the middle of the floor.
The crowd suddenly hushed as everyone stared at the erupting scene. Doug quickly steered me toward the opposite side of the room and out the open garden doors. We stepped into the fragrant night and sought a spot away from prying eyes.
“What’s gotten into you?” I cried. I searched his face in the dim light, looking for an explanation.
“I’m sorry. It’s that guy; something about him. I can’t put my finger on it, but he rubs me the wrong way. The thought of him putting his hands on you, even for a simple dance… I, well, it made me see red.” }}
